Chair of the OPA celebrates a double first as her son becomes Chair of the Whitgiftian Association
13th February 2017

It’s a double first for Maureen Bunn, the Chair of the Old Palace Association, and her son, Jonathan, who was elected as Chair of the Whitgiftian Association in December 2016. Jonathan was a pupil at Whitgift from 1980 to 1988 and has maintained strong links with the W A, notably as a long- serving member of the Old Whitgiftians RFC’s 1st XV for which he has made a Club record number of appearances.

Maureen was at Old Palace from 1949 to 1955, and joined the OPA Committee soon after leaving School. She has undertaken the roles of Newsletter Editor and Secretary but in what must be something of a record, Maureen has been Chair for almost 50 years with just a couple of breaks in between.

Maureen has done a fantastic job, keeping the flags flying for the OPA over the years and is also on the Committee of the Friends of the Old Palace. She stresses that throughout her time, she has always enjoyed great support both from her Committee and from School. She still enjoys her role but if anybody wants to volunteer for the position...?
