ANGELI TAVARES (left School in 2001)
After leaving School, Angeli attended Imperial College. In June 2007 she qualified as a
Doctor and will spend her first year as a House Officer in London and in 2008 will be working in Brighton.
Well done!
NORAH WEST (NEE SPITTLES) has contacted us saying that, although she was at School from 1929 - 35,
she does not remember Kathleen. Norah has 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren -
is this a record for an Old Girl? VIOLET EMY was her Head Girl and now, at 88 years old,
Norah is going to rejoin the Association. She would love to hear from anyone who remembers her -
contact Maureen Bunn for Norah's email address.
WHERE ARE YOU NOW?
We have been asked if anyone remembers KATHLEEN MARETTA WHITE at School in the 1930's - please contact
Maureen Bunn if you can help (maureenabunn@yahoo.co.uk or telephone 01883 716727).
KATHLEEN BOTTRILL
Kathleen taught English at School in the 1970s, firstly under Sister Fenella, to whom she was Deputy Head, and for a year
with Miss Hilton. I went to see her recently at the Residential Home she now lives in. Although she has suffered a stroke,
she was in good spirits and we talked of School and the "old days". She is in contact with Sister Fenella and visited her
quite recently. I called on the day when the Parish Church held a Communion Service for the residents so we were able to
share this. Should you wish to have further details of Kathleen's whereabouts, please contact me; she would love to hear from anyone
she taught.

DORA GOODBORN (NEE MASON)
Dora died on 26th October 2008 at the age of 94. She attended Old Palace from 1923 – 31. Her particular interests were History and French. In 1926 Miss Phillips, her French teacher, took a group
of girls to Avignon, France. The trip cost £8.00! Both her daughters, Jill and Carol, attended Old Palace and they also were taught by Miss Phillips. Dora lived in Caterham for many years and three
years ago moved to a care home in Reigate, with her husband Norman, where they were very comfortable and well cared for.
Dora was a keen member of the OPOGA and for many years was a regular attendee at Reunions.
BARBARA TANNER (NEE LANGHORNE)
Barbara was at Old Palace from 1939 –45. Her younger sister, Valerie, also attended the School from 1948 – 55. Barbara was brought up in Shirley but had lived for many years in Cheshire.
She was married to Derek for many years and leaves two sons. Although she lived far from Croydon, she always told me how she appreciated the Newsletters and being able to keep in touch.
One of her close friends at School was Yvonne Garland (nee Vaissire) who was still in close contact.
Cherie Rowland (Head Girl in 1958) sadly passed away this summer. Further details available from Mary Elliott (Newsletter Editor).
( I remember Cherie well at School - she was a very pretty
girl with a great sporting talent - Maureen Bunn)
We are sad to announce that Patricia (Paddy) Pyman (nee Rogans) died recently. Paddy was at school from
1943 - 48, starting in 111A2 with Miss Sainsbury (later to become Sister Fenella) as her form teacher.
We send our condolences to her younger sister, Jane, who was head girl in the 50's, and all her family.
